Different Types of Asphalt Mixing Equipment
Aug 15, 2024
Asphalt mixing equipment is a a complete set of equipment used for batch production of asphalt concrete. According to the mixing method, it can be divided into batch type asphalt mixing plant and continuous asphalt mixing plant.
The main components of an asphalt batching plant include a material supply system, a drying drum, a screening system, a weighing system, a mixing system, a dust collection system, a control system, etc. Its working principle is to dry the aggregate in a drying drum, screen it through a screening system, and then weigh it through a weighing system. Finally, it is mixed with asphalt and other auxiliary materials for mixing and storage, and finally transported to the construction site for use.
The primary cold aggregate is dried in the drying drum by countercurrent heating. The heat energy is well utilized. The gradation of the heated mineral aggregate and the ratio of the mineral aggregate to asphalt can reach a fairly accurate level. It is also easy to change the mineral aggregate gradation and the oil-stone ratio at any time according to the needs. The asphalt concrete mixed by the mixing station is of good quality.
Its disadvantage is that the process is long. The equipment is complicated, the construction investment is large, and it is difficult to relocate. The dust removal device has high requirements, so the investment in the dust removal device accounts for 30%~40% of the total equipment cost.
The characteristics of the continuous drum mix plant process are: dynamically metered and graded cold aggregate and stone powder continuously enter from the front of the mixing drum, are dried and heated by downstream heating, mixed with hot asphalt that is dynamically metered and continuously sprayed at the rear of the drum, and asphalt concrete is continuously mixed by drop mixing.
Compared with stationary asphalt batching plant, the asphalt drum mixing plant completes the drying and mixing in the same mixing drum, simplifying the process flow and decreasing the equipment cost.
When mixing asphalt mixture, dust is difficult to escape, and it is easy to meet environmental protection standards. However, since the heating of aggregates is carried out by hot air along the direction of material flow, the thermal energy utilization rate is low and the asphalt mixture is of high water content and low temperature. Customers can choose the proper one according to the local raw material requirements and project conditions.
