How to Calculate Batching Plant Capacity
Apr 16, 2025
In the construction industry, accurate calculation of the output of concrete batching plant is essential for rationally planning the progress of the project, controlling costs, and ensuring the smooth progress of the project. Concrete stations are divided into mobile and stationary batching plant. They have both commonalities in output calculation and some differences due to their own characteristics.
Concrete batching plant capacity calculation
The basic calculation formula for concrete production capacity is: production capacity = amount of concrete produced per unit time × unit time length. Among them, the amount of concrete produced per unit time can be counted through the company's production records, and the unit time length can be determined according to the company's actual situation, such as the common calculation of production in hours, days, months, and years.
For the main concrete mixer, its capacity determines the amount of material discharged each time. Taking the mainstream JS series concrete mixer as an example, the JS2000 concrete mixer, the discharge volume of this main machine is 2000L or 2 cubic meters each time. However, this does not mean that with JS2000 as the main machine, 60×2 per hour is the actual output of this concrete mixing station, because there are many factors that affect the output of the concrete mixing station in actual production.
Stationary batching plant output
The compact concrete plant usually has relatively stable equipment configuration and production processes, and its output calculation is relatively standardized. The productivity calculation formula of concrete mixers is Q=(3600V1ψ1)/(t1 + t2 + t3). Among them, Q is productivity,V1 is feeding amount, t1 is feeding time, t2 is mixing time and t3 is discharging time, ψ1 is discharge coefficient.
In addition, the calculation formula for the hourly production capacity of a stationary concrete plant is Qh = KhQm/(m·n). Among them, Qh is capacity per hour, Kh is hourly non-uniformity coefficient, Qm is peak pouring strength of concrete, m is the number of working days per month, and n is the number of working hours per day. This formula helps to evaluate the production capacity of the mixing system within a certain period of time, so as to better plan the production plan.
At the same time, in order to ensure that the concrete is poured before the initial setting, the initial setting condition verification is also required. The calculation formula for the hourly production capacity of the initial setting condition verification of concrete is Qh≥1.1SD/(t1 - t2). Among them, S is the largest concrete pouring area,D is the pouring layer thickness, t1 is the initial setting time of concrete, and t2 is the time from the concrete leaving the machine to the pouring.
Calculation of mobile concrete plant output
The characteristics of mobile concrete plant are strong mobility and can be flexibly deployed at different construction sites, but their equipment scale and production capacity are usually smaller than those of stationary concrete batching plant and the production process may be affected by factors such as site conditions and frequency of site transfer.
The production calculation of the truck mounted batching plant is also based on the output and working cycle time of the mixing main unit. For example, the mixing main unit equipped with a mobile station has an output of 1 cubic meter each time and a working cycle time of 90 seconds (i.e. 1.5 minutes). In theory, the output per hour is: 40m3/h.
However, in actual production, mobile stations often need to be transferred, and equipment installation and debugging, site leveling and other work will take up a certain amount of time, resulting in a reduction in actual effective production time. Assuming that within a month, the mobile station has a cumulative non-production time of 5 days due to transfer and site preparation (calculated as 8 hours of work per day), the theoretical monthly output of the mobile station (calculated as 30 days, 8 hours of work per day) is: 40×8×(30 - 5)= 8000m3 per month.
In addition, the construction site conditions of the mobile concrete mixing plant will also have an impact on production. If the site is narrow and the space for raw materials is limited, it may lead to untimely loading, thus extending the work cycle time and reducing production. Or in some remote areas, the supply of raw materials is unstable, which will also affect the normal production of the portable concrete plant.
