The Production Quality Control of Hot Mix Asphalt Plant

1. Minerals
In the construction process, the coarse ore material is the gravel of which the size is from 2.36mm to 25mm. During the construction process, the coarse aggregate must be cube particles after being crushed.
2. Asphalt
Before using, all indicators of the asphalt must be checked to ensure its quality. When selecting asphalt grades, be sure to investigate the local climate. When the temperature is low, the ones with high asphalt grades should be selected, mainly because the high-grade asphalt has better crack resistance when paved.
3. Aggregate
Aggregate is the main factor that affects the strength of asphalt concrete. The key part that controls the aggregate grading is the vibrating screen. The mud content of the aggregate will also affect the adhesion performance of the aggregate and asphalt and the stability of the mixture. Therefore, before mixing the mixture, the muddy aggregate should be cleaned.
4. Temperature control
The mixing temperature determines the viscosity of the asphalt. At high temperatures, the asphalt has a high fluidity, so that the aggregate can be completely wrapped. However, if the mixing temperature is too high, the aging of asphalt will be very serious.
Generally, the mixing temperature of the hot asphalt mixture is 130～160℃, and the modified asphalt mixture temperature should be 10～20℃ higher than that of the ordinary asphalt mixture.
5. Mixing ratio
The mix ratio of the asphalt is determined by numerous test in the laboratory. During the production, each material should be feed in a certain order. During the mixing process of hot mix asphalt plant, all aggregate particles should be wrapped by the asphalt. The mixing time should be controlled between 45-90 seconds, and must be checked at any time.
