China Asphalt Aggregate Mixing Plants

Sep 16, 2025

In road construction, asphalt mixing plants are core equipment for producing asphalt mixtures. Their performance, type, and technological innovations directly impact road quality and lifespan. Based on their production processes, China asphalt aggregate mixing plants are primarily categorized into batch and continuous types.

Batch type asphalt mixing plants use a batch feeding and mixing method. Raw materials are precisely proportioned and then mixed in the mixing drum, producing high-quality asphalt mixture. They are highly adaptable to raw materials and offer consistent product quality, making them suitable for key projects such as highways and large bridges, where high-quality mixtures are required.

In practice, mixing cycles typically range from 45-60 seconds per batch, and production capacities range widely: small plants with a capacity of less than 40 tons per hour, medium-sized plants with a capacity of 40-400 tons, and large plants with a capacity exceeding 400 tons.

Continuous asphalt mixing plants enable continuous production, with aggregate heating and drying and mixture mixing completed in the same drum. This results in higher production efficiency than batch-type plants, but they require higher raw material consistency and, under complex operating conditions, slightly inferior product quality. They are suitable for general road construction projects with high production demands and stable raw material quality, with typical production capacities of 600 tons per hour or more.

Based on ease of relocation, asphalt mixing plants can be categorized as fixed, semi-fixed, and mobile. The stationary asphalt plant features fixed installations, large production scale, and excellent stability, making them suitable for concentrated, long-term operations, such as urban road construction. Semi-fixed equipment can be assembled at the construction site, offering greater flexibility and being primarily used in highway construction.

Mobile asphalt plants are equipped with tires and can be moved with the construction site, making them suitable for highly mobile work sites such as county and township roads and low-grade highways.

In the area of intelligence, technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, and artificial intelligence are being integrated into equipment. Intelligent control systems can monitor and precisely control production parameters (such as raw material ratios, temperature, and mixing time) in real time. By analyzing production data, they optimize processes and enable intelligent decision-making, improving product quality and stability while reducing energy consumption and production costs.

In terms of environmental protection technology, the industry has responded to green development requirements by improving dust removal systems. A primary inertial dust removal system coupled with a secondary bag filter system, combined with negative pressure dust control within buildings, significantly reduces dust emissions, with concentrations far below national standards. Some high-end equipment has been equipped with desulfurization and denitrification devices to reduce acidic emissions. Furthermore, combustion systems have been optimized to improve energy efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, and some mixing plants have replaced traditional fuels with clean energy sources such as natural gas and electricity, further minimizing environmental impact.

Significant breakthroughs have been made in recycling technology. Based on the principles of resource conservation and recycling, recycled asphalt pavement materials are collected, heated, and screened, then mixed with new materials in appropriate proportions to produce a recycled asphalt mixture that meets quality requirements. This approach reduces the consumption of new raw materials, lowers production costs, and alleviates the environmental impact of waste pavement materials. Currently, some advanced mixing plants use up to 50% recycled materials.
