How to Control Asphalt Plant Cost

Investing in asphalt mixing equipment is a capital-intensive investment and a major decision for road contractors and asphalt mixing suppliers. A detailed assessment of factors other than asphalt plant cost is required like different technologies and manufacturing methods of asphalt mixing plants.
Generally speaking, there are two types of asphalt mixture production: continuous mixing and batch type. Asphalt drum mix plant is of a continuous system: no screening of raw materials, no separate weighing of raw materials and bitumen, and no separate mixing process.
For the batch type hot mix plant, the raw materials are screened before mixing. Individual weighing of aggregates, fillers and bitumen by load cells in mixing plants provides better accuracy and quality control than volumetric weighing in drum mixing plants. This reduces waste of bitumen and poor quality hot mix bitumen.
The mobility of asphalt plants should also be considered, especially if contractors are working on projects in remote locations and they may have to relocate the plant after the project is complete. At this time, choosing a mobile asphalt drum mix plant is a better choice. If you choose a stationary asphalt platn, you should also consider the nonrecoverable costs of foundation works and lifting equipment required for installation.
The cost of operating and maintaining the plant, after-sales service and support, and the availability of spare parts are also key factors in the decision-making process. After buying one, how to reduce daily operation cost? There are two tips:
1. Improve power quality
Since the mobile asphalt drum mix plant uses electric energy during operation, the quality of the electric energy directly determines the operation of the mixing plant. In order to improve the electric energy of the mixing station, it can be reduced by determining the distribution voltage, improving the power factor, reducing the line loss, and stopping the transformer to cut off the high voltage.
2. Use fuel instead of diesel
Of the many costs, fuel costs are the most consuming. During the heating of asphalt mixing, fuel needs to be used to supplement energy. The traditional diesel oil can be replaced with low-cost fuel, oil residue, oil and gas, so as to control the cost of fuel to the maximum extent.
